Northeastern Pa. product Mason Black makes MLB debut against Phillies

Lehigh University product Mason Black, who played scholastically at Valley View High School in Lackawanna County, made his Major League Baseball debut on Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies, lasting 4.1 innings and taking the loss.

The Phillies beat the Giants, 6-1, sweeping the four-game series.

Black, a 2021 Lehigh graduate, gave up five runs, all earned, and 8 hits, including a three-home run by Bryce Harper in the fifth inning.

The 6-2 righthander, who is 24 years of age and from Archbald, made his debut in front of his friends and family.

In his senior season at Lehigh, Black was 7-3 with a 3.11 ERA.

He was drafted in third round by the Giants.
