Hamburg Salvation Army Family Store Car Show: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain date Oct. 9 at Hamburg Salvation Army Family Store, 700 South 4th Street, Hamburg. Event celebrates five years of Family Store serving the community. $5 per parking spot – pre-registration encouraged at Family Store. Proceeds support Hamburg Salvation Army Emergency Services.

Indoor Flea Market: 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. rain or shine in Social Hall, 529 St. Michael’s Road, Hamburg. Food available. 610-488-6340

Oct. 2

Kutztown Community Library Country Cruise: self-guided driving tour through Albany and Greenwich townships starting at Library. Tour covers 30 miles in hour drive. Tour includes covered bridges, historic churches, winery, artist’s gallery and Albany Art’s Festival (free and open to public 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) in the Albany Township Historical Society Building. Tickets $25 per car, includes guidebook and 3 free raffle tickets to win items donated from sites on Cruise. Purchase tickets at library, 70 Bieber Alley, up to 2p.m. on day of event, call 610-683-5820. On event day, tickets sold at Albany Area Historical Society.

Oct. 2

Countryside Ride road rally fundraiser: 1 p.m. at First Reformed UCC, 76 S. Third St., Hamburg. $20 per car includes light dinner after rally. Call 610-562-2593 or 610-562-5405 to pre-register. Bring your smart phone.

Oct. 3

Leesport Area Historical Society Open House: 1 to 4 p.m., 128 Main St., Leesport. Kids interactive presentation by Jean Davis on what it was like to be a first grade student in the West Leesport School House in 1958.  The program will occur every half hour beginning at 1:15 until 3:15 p.m. Museum tour included.

Oct. 10

Fire Company Breakfast: 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Strausstown Community Campus, 50 East Ave. Full breakfast menu. Proceeds benefit Apparatus Fund.

Oct. 12

Keystone Villa at Fleetwood Oktoberfest: 2 to 3 p.m., Keystone Villa, 501 Hoch Road, Blandon. Entertainment by accordion player Bill Minnich and festive refreshments like soft pretzels, birch beer and a sample of beer. RSVP by Oct. 8; call Kendra at 484-637-8200.

CHURCH NEWS

World Communion Sunday Oct. 3: in-person worship services at 8 and 10:30 a.m. at Zion’s Lutheran Church, 354 Zion Church Road, Shoemakersville. The 10:30 a.m. service will also be available on Facebook Live and the church website zionschurch.org.  Sunday School will be held at 9:15 a.m.  Volunteers from Zion’s will help to pick potatoes through iHart Harvest, Inc. (The Potato Project) from 1 to 5 p.m.  A sign up sheet is posted on the bulletin board in the narthex.
