Oley Valley, Wilson play to 0-0 tie in field hockey, ending Lynx’s 87-game league winning streak

Division leaders Wilson and Oley Valley played to a 0-0 tie Thursday in a Berks Field Hockey League game at Oley that ended the Lynx’s league winning streak at 87 games.

The tie also extended Oley’s league unbeaten streak to 88 games. The Lynx’s last league loss was on Oct. 11, 2011, 3-1 to Hamburg.

In Thursday’s game, Oley (3-0-1 Berks II, 7-1-1) had advantages of 8-6 in shots and corners. Catherine Wolf made seven saves and Natalie Riccitelli had a defensive save for the Bulldogs (3-0-1 Berks I, 7-1-1). Cenora Grim made five saves for the Lynx. Another Wilson shot hit the post.

Oley Valley opted to move up from Berks III to Berks II for this season, which put the Lynx, a Class 1A school, into more direct competition with Class 3A and Class 2A schools. The Bulldogs are a Class 3A school.
