The 31st annual Orwigsburg Heritage Day is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the borough’s downtown Center Square.
This celebration of the borough features history, local artisans, family-friendly activities, food and fun. Bands and historical reenactors will be there to entertain those who attend.
There will be free remote parking with a free shuttle bus to get visitors to and from the event. The lot is at 900 W. Market St.
The event is presented by the Orwigsburg Area Business and Professional Association, an organization that identifies its purpose as “advancing the general welfare and prosperity of Orwigsburg so that its citizens and all areas of its business community shall prosper.”
The stated goal behind Heritage Day is to celebrate the past and embrace the future while taking advantage of everything Orwigsburg has to offer visitors.
Heritage Day gives participants to enjoy some late-summer fun while reflecting on the history of the Orwigsburg community, the region, state and nation. The event typically features an 18th-century flavor since it celebrates a town that was founded in 1796 by Gottfried Orwig along with his sons, Peter, Henry and George.
