Outstanding performances by Berks athletes from Oct. 21-26

Here are some of the outstanding performances by Berks athletes from Oct. 21 – Oct. 26.

Boys cross country

Oley Valley junior Ryan Gourley won the Class 2A boys race at the District 3 Cross Country Championships in Newville on Saturday. Gourley ran 16:11.5 for the 5,000-meter course to beat Cody Lusby of Octorara by 12 seconds.

Girls cross country

Schuylkill Valley’s Mabel Walborn finished fourth in 19:58.6 in the District 3 Class 2A Cross Country Championships.

Field hockey

Wyomissing junior Ella Anders scored a goal and had an assist to help lead the Spartans to 4-1 win against Littlestown in the first round of the District 3 Class 1A field hockey championship Wednesday.

Football

Berks Catholic senior Zach Suski was 12-for-14 passing and threw for 228 yards and four touchdown passes to help Berks Catholic earn a 49-14 win over Annville-Cleona.

Boys golf

Daniel Boone junior Chase Yenser and Fleetwood sophomore Cameron Peffel tied for second place in the PIAA Class 3A Golf Tournament Tuesday at Penn State’s Blue and White courses. Yenser and Peffel each shot 138 for two rounds.

Girls golf

Exeter sophomore Giulia Weisser tied for 15th place in the PIAA Class 3A tournament, shooting a two-day total of 153 on rounds of 74 and 79.

Boys soccer

Conrad Weiser junior Abu Barrie scored a goal in the Scouts 4-0 win over West Perry in the first round of the District 3 Class 3A boys soccer tournament on Monday and also scored a goal in Conrad Weiser’s 1-0 win over Fleetwood in the quarterfinal round on Thursday.

Girls soccer

Fleetwood junior Gigi Gonzalez scored two goals to help thirteenth-seeded Fleetwood knock off fourth-seeded Lampeter-Strasburg 3-2 in the opening round of the District 3 Class 3A girls soccer tournament.

Girls volleyball

Wilson sophomore Keira Benner had 11 kills, 15 digs and 2 blocks to help lead the Bulldogs to a 3-2 win over Exeter in a District 3 Class 4A first round match.

Boys water polo

Oley Valley senior Evan Carl scored eight goals as Exeter defeated Muhlenberg 16-10 in a boys a water polo match on Thursday.

Girls water polo

Wilson senior Olivia Vecchio scored five goals as Wilson defeated Gov. Mifflin 15-8 in girls water polo on Thursday.
