PA Group Pushes Voter Registration, Candidate Information

As the general election nears, the battleground state of Pennsylvania is seeing a push for more voter education and engagement. More than 8 million registered voters have the opportunity to cast a ballot for the Nov. 5 election.

Brianna Rybka, voter services coordinator with the League of Women Voters Pennsylvania, said the League’s website, Vote411.org, is a one-stop shop for all aspects of the voting process. She said voters can check their registration status and see the specific races on their ballot, along with candidate information.

“By entering your address, you can discover your districts. View the candidates running in those districts, find your polling location, as well as access a wealth of other important information. Along with seeing the races and candidates on your ballot, you can view candidates’ responses to our questions presented side by side,” Rybka said.

Rybka added that voter participation is particularly important since the decisions will ultimately affect issues from health care to education. The voter registration deadline for the Nov. 5 general election is Oct. 21.

Sheri Stayton, Vote411 manager for Pennsylvania, manages the candidates and races on the Vote411.org/pennsylvania platform. She sends out a survey link inviting the local candidates to fill out their information and answer questions about pressing issues facing Pennsylvanian voters.

“We try to ask both the general question, like what their priorities are in office, but we also try to ask about issues important to that race. When they answer those, voters can go to Vote 411 and get that side-by-side comparison that the candidates actually answered in their own words,” she said.

The platform now provides detailed guidance on how to request, fill out, and submit mail-in ballots, including updated deadlines and rules that vary by state. According to the League of Women Voters, during the primary in 2024, more than 80,000 users visited the platform in Pennsylvania. They expect that to reach more than 175,000 people by the November election.
