Hours before of a looming budget deadline and amid stalled talks with Democratic legislative leaders, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy on Saturday sent lawmakers a new tax revenue offer aimed funding government and avoiding a shutdown.

Kutztown's Jackee Sharayko presented Library Support Staff Award

The Pennsylvania Library Association Lehigh Valley Chapter awarded Jacqueline “Jackee” Sharayko the 2018 Support Staff Award during an award ceremony held at Northampton Community College in May.

This award is presented to individuals who demonstrate leadership, creativity, inspiration and a positive attitude in everything they do in their position and beyond.

Hamburg girl, 9, hikes Appalachian Trail to raise $3.1M for kids with cancer

Alexandria Amadoro, 9, Hamburg, has been training to hike the entire Appalachian Trail with a goal of raising $3,100,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“I love being in the wilderness and I love hiking so I thought because I love St. Jude and I really want to help them I can hike while I’m helping them,” said Alexandria.

Police: Newspaper gunman worked methodically, blocked exit

The gunman accused of killing five people in a vendetta against a Maryland newspaper barricaded the rear exit to prevent anyone from escaping and methodically blasted his way through the newsroom.

Hamburg Hoopla features music and fundraiser for Hamburg girl's thru-hike for St. Jude

The Hamburg Area Arts Alliance honored local musicians during a one-day music festival that also supported a Hamburg girl, 9, raising funds to hike the Appalachian Trail for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“Food, music and fun” brought Our Town Foundation members Carolyn and Gene Bonkoski of Orwigsburg out to Hamburg Hoopla at the Hamburg’s State Street Square on June 23.
