‘Pandemic: The Year We Lost’ reflects on life amid pandemic

Boyertown State Theatre, in partnership with The Talisman Players, will bring an exciting new production, ‘Pandemic: The Year We Lost’, to the stage in October.

The production features a variety of one-act performances that share the common theme of reflection on life during the COVID-19 pandemic. The show will run for three nights on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m., Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. and Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.

Inspired by the experiences of the Berks County community during the pandemic, audiences can expect to enjoy a range of engaging and thrilling performances of different genres as The Talisman Players weave together the good, bad and ugly of the past year into a collection of fifteen short, but vibrant, pieces of theatre. To create the production, The Boyertown Theatre and The Talisman Players conducted a survey that invited community members to share their experience of the pandemic.

“We are thrilled to welcome The Talisman Players to Boyertown for this special production,” said Charles Haddad, president of the Boyertown State Theatre Board. “The pandemic has been a challenging time for many of us, in so many different ways. By bringing real experiences to life on stage, we hope that we can extend a hand and say, you’re not alone, we all felt this together, and better yet, we all came through this together!”

Hailing from Kutztown, The Talisman Players have created ‘Pandemic: The Year With Lost’ with the help of funding from the Berks County Community Foundation and the Hawley and Quier Community Fund. The project aims to encourage cross-community empathy and understanding throughout Berks County by sharing the tragedies, triumphs, joys and sadness of the year lost due to COVID-19.

The Boyertown State Theatre is a not-for-profit organization run by a group of local volunteers committed to preserving the theatre building by bringing film, performing arts, and education to the local community. The State Theatre Preservation Society’s mission is to protect and operate the historic theatre and enrich the cultural life of the Boyertown community and surrounding areas.

Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased online at www.boyertownstatetheatre.com or by calling the theatre at 484-415-557.
