Penn State Berks Celebrates Indigenous and Native American Heritage Month

from Penn State Berks

Penn State Berks will welcome Piscataway Nation Singers and Dancers to honor and celebrate Indigenous and Native American Heritage Month. The event is free and open to the public and will take place on Monday, Nov. 4, at 12:15 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium.

According to TaLisa Ramos, associate director of student affairs, “This event is part of the college’s ongoing efforts to engage and support Indigenous and Native American voices and traditions.”

Attendees will enjoy an immersive experience through song, dance, and storytelling by Mark Tayac and the Piscataway Nation Singers and Dancers, whose aim is to educate and entertain audiences who want to learn more about Indigenous and Native American culture and tradition. The Piscataway Nation Singers and Dancers visit college campuses, providing an entertaining show that features American Indian Dance, Drum, and Song. The group is also frequently featured in TV specials on both the History Channel and Discovery Channel.

This event is sponsored by the Penn State Berks Office of Inclusive Excellence and the Arts and Lecture Series. For additional information on this event, contact Ramos at TMR70@psu.edu.
