Arts and Culture: These five counties boast a lively local arts and culture scene that includes top-tier museums and art galleries, gardens, venues for concerts, theater and dance, and a smorgasbord of places to eat. This category serves to document food, culture, arts, activities, events, nightlife, music and entertainment.
History and Heritage: The region is steeped in history. Chester County was among the three original counties created by William Penn in 1682, and the others followed in the mid- to late 1700s. The area’s history is intertwined with the birth of the nation and was the scene of pivotal Revolutionary War moments, including Gen. George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River and routing of the Hessians in Mercer County. This category serves to document the rich history told in our rivers, rails, trails, mountains and small towns.
