Hamburg senior Mia Gassert won two matches on Friday in the PIAA Tennis Tournament to advance to the semifinals in Class 2A at the Hershey Racquet Club.
Gassert plays Wyoming Seminary’s Ilana Rosenthal in the semifinals at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
Gassert, the District 3 champion, defeated Anna Mrkonja of Beaver 6-3, 6-1 in the first round and then beat Allentown Central Catholic’s Bernadette Gasser 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4 in the quarterfinals.
If Gassert wins in the semifinals, she will play in the championship match at 1 p.m. If she loses, she will play for third place, also at 1 p.m.
