PIAA wrestling championships: Speece, Homan, Borreli fall in semifinals

State title hopes for three Berks wrestlers were dashed Friday night in the semifinals of the PIAA Wrestling Championships at the Giant Center in Hershey.

Wilson junior McKaden Speece fell in the Class 3A 145-pound semifinals to Eren Sement of Council Rock North, 8-1.

Hamburg junior Chase Homan lost to Dominic Deputy of Chestnut Ridge by technical fall, 15-0, 5:09 in the Class 2A semifinals at 121 pounds.

Tulpehocken senior Katalyn Borreli lost to Jameson Strickland of Sun Valley, 2-1, in the girls semifinals.

All three are guaranteed medals and can finish no worse than sixth place because they made the championships semifinals. They will wrestle in the fifth round of consolations on Saturday.
