Plant sale and scholarship opportunity at South Schuylkill Garden Club

The South Schuylkill Garden Club’s annual plant sale is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, at Bubeck Park in Schuylkill Haven from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please do not arrive early.

The selection of plants includes perennials, annuals, herbs, shrubs, natives, heirloom vegetables, succulents, sun- and shade-loving plants, small trees and even house plants. Most are sourced from club members’ gardens in Schuylkill County, making them especially hardy to grow locally.

Prices are hard to beat, and qualified gardeners will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice.

For more information, call 570-573-9787; otherwise, we’ll see you there.

Scholarship available

The South Schuylkill Garden Club will award a one-time $1000 Scholarship to a Schuylkill County high school senior who will attend an institution of higher learning to study horticulture, floriculture, landscape architecture, conservation, forestry, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental control, land-use planning, land management, agriculture or related fields.

Applications must be received by May 30. The application form can be requested from high school guidance departments or from Scholarship Chair Patricia Wishousky, phone 272-245-5050, email pjw47@outlook.com.

Winner will receive the scholarship in person at the club summer meeting of their choice.
