Police reports, Dec. 16, 2021

The following information comes from police reports and court records.

Theft by deception: On Dec. 6 about 2:50 p.m. state police were dispatched to a fitness center on Route 61 in North Manheim Township to investigate the theft and unauthorized use of a debit card. A Pottsville woman told police that her debit card was stolen from an unlocked locker in the fitness center Dec. 6 between 12:15 and 1:30 p.m. The card was used to make fraudulent purchases. Anyone with information to contact troopers at the Schuylkill Haven station at 570-754-4600.

Crash: On Dec. 6 about 6:30 p.m. state police responded to an accident on Chestnut Street in Cressona. Kaylyn Kelly, 33, Pine Grove, was stopped in the northbound lane in the 100 block waiting to make a left turn. Malakai Johnson, 20, Pottsville, failed to slow down and rear-ended Kelly’s car. Johnson was cited.

Theft: On Dec. 3 about 10:30 a.m. state police were dispatched to Route 183 in Wayne Township to investigate the theft of a catalytic converter between Dec. 2 about 5:30 p.m. and Dec. 3 about 7:10 a.m. from a parked motorhome. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers at the Schuylkill Haven station at 570-754-4600.

Crash: On Dec. 2 about 3:35 a.m. state police responded to an accident on West. Market Street (Route 443) in North Manheim Township. Douglas Heintzelman, 49, New Tripoli, swerved to avoid hitting a deer and his vehicle hit a utility pole. Heintzelman was injured but refused to go to a hospital.

Burglary: On Dec. 2  about 1 p.m. troopers were dispatched to Deep Creek Road in Barry Township to investigate a burglary between Dec. 1 about 2 p.m. and Dec. 2 about noon. 2 p.m. Someone had stole copper wire, copper pipes, copper conduits, a distribution board for breaker boxes and a silver and green GSX550E Suzuki motorcycle. Anyone with information is asked to troopers at the Schuylkill Haven station at 570-754-4600.

Theft: On Dec. 2 about 2:20 p.m. state police were called to C&C Candies and Country Store, Friedensburg, for theft of lottery tickets. Edward Rayfield, 38, Pottsville, left the store in a silver Lincoln Navigator and was spotted driving the same vehicle on Dec. 4 and wearing the same clothing he had on during the theft. Rayfield was charged with retail theft.

Theft: State police investigated a report of theft from vehicles on Pine and Willow streets in Norwegian Township. Someone was seen pulling checking door handles of vehicles to see if they were unlocked. About $200 was taken from two unlocked vehicles. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers at the Schuylkill Haven station at 570-754-4600.

Crash: State police responded to an accident Dec. 1 about 5:35 p.m. on West Main Street at Broad Street in Hegins Township. Lawrence Glover, 62, Valley View,  made a left turn from West Main onto Broad and failed to yield to Betty Spiess, 30, Pottsville, who was in the eastbound lane on West Main, and the vehicles collided. There were no injuries.

Crash: On Nov. 29 about 5:20 p.m. state police responded to a three-vehicle accident on South Sillyman Street at Millers Ally in Cressona. Justin Bizaldi, 27, Philadelphia failed to stop at a stop sign on Millers and drove onto South Sillyman. A vehicle driven by Katherine Hinkle, 38, Schuylkill Haven, collided rear side Bizaldi’s vehicle, then sideswiped a car driven by driven by Beverly Scott, 54, Pottsville, who was stopped in the opposite lane on South Sillyman. Hinkle was taken to St. Lukes Urgent Care Hamburg. There were no other injuries.

Crash: On Nov. 29 about 5:45 p.m. state police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Tremont Road north of Sweet Arrow Lake Road in Pine Grove Township. A vehicle  driven by James Malick, 61, Tower City, and a SUV driven by Nicole Schuld, 32, Port Carbon, were northbound on Tremont Road. Malick’s vehicle struck the SUV. An investigation continues.

Crash: On Nov. 28 about 4:10 a.m. state police responded to a one-vehicle accident on South Tulpehocken Street (Route 443) at Maple Street in Pine Grove. A northbound pickup truck slid into a tree. The driver parked the truck on a grass lot belonging to St. John’s Church, damaging to the grass. The driver, who was not injured, left before troopers arrived and went hunting. The truck was removed from the property to identify the driver. After returning from hunting, the driver contacted state police to find out where his truck was.

Theft: On Nov. 22 about 8:15 a.m. a Muir resident reported to state police that someone stole over $1,000 of merchandise from her home in the 300 block of East Wiconisco Street in Porter Township. State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating.

Crash: On Nov. 20 about 1 a.m. state police responded to an accident on Route 61 near Pottsville Street. Angie Porter, 25, Pottsville, failed to stop for stopped traffic and rear-ended a vehicle that fled.  Porter suffered a head injury and was transported to Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital. Her passenger, Nathan Furness, 21, Pottsville, also suffered a head injury but refused treatment. An investigation continues.

Drug possession: On Nov. 20 about 1:15 a.m. state police stopped Trevor Jenkins, 32, Tremont, for an equipment violation and found there was a warrant Jenkins’ arrest and that he had methamphetamine.
