Police Reports, Jan. 20

The following information comes from police reports and court records.

Crash: State police responded to an accident on Route 895 near Drehersville Road in West Brunswick Township on Jan. 9 at about 8:30 a.m. Christopher Matthews, 19, Kingston, lost control of his car, which went off the road and struck a guide rail. The vehicle was towed. Matthews was not injured.

Theft: On Jan. 8 at about 12:22 p.m. a state trooper was dispatched to 1607 Creek Road in Eldred Township for a reported identity theft.  Franklin King, 59, Pitman told police that someone opened bank accounts in his name. The investigation is ongoing.

Theft: On Jan. 8 at about 12:25 p.m. a Pine Grove man reported that a floating tank deicer was taken from a loft inside the barn at Fox Road in Washington Township. The device is valued at about $40 and has not been seen in two to three months.

Crash: State police responded to an accident on Summer Hill Road near Fern Lane in South Manheim Township on Jan. 7 at about midnight. Anthony Webb, 37, Tower City, lost control of his vehicle during a snowstorm and landed in a ditch. The car was not drivable, and Webb left the scene without reporting the accident.

Theft: On Jan. 7 Schaeffer’s Motor Sports told state police that a green 2022 Can-Am Outlander Max DPS 570 ATV valued at $9,349 was taken from the establishment. Two unidentified men entered the property in a dark Dodge Ram pickup with a lift package, yellow tow light bar on its roof, ladder rack and tool compartments on each side of the bed, towing a trailer. The men broke into a crate carrying the new ATV, loaded it onto the trailer and fled south on Route 61. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 570-754-4600.

Crash: On Jan. 7 at 9:22 a.m. state police responded to an accident on the Gordon Nagle Trail east of Glenworth Road in North Manheim Township. Andrew Perozich, 21, Ephrata, was distracted by looking down at his GPS, causing him to veer off the shoulder and strike an embankment. His car rolled over, causing heavy damage to the front bumper, hood and roof. Perozich was not injured.

Crash: On Jan. 7 at about 10:30 a.m., state police responded to an accident on Route 501 south of Nut Grove Road in Pine Grove Township. Joseph Maniscalco, 23, Womelsdorf, lost control of his vehicle, struck a guide rail and tree and went down an embankment. The vehicle was disabled and towed. Maniscalco was not injured.

Crash: State police responded to an accident on Route 61 in West Brunswick Township on Jan. 7 at about 10:45 a.m. Lester Benton, 65, Allentown, driving a truck and Charlotte Harrison, 57, Pottsville, driving an SUV, were traveling south in the right lane. Benton missed the exit ramp he wanted to use and began backing up on Route 61. Benton did not see Harrison behind him and collided with her vehicle, causing disabling front end damage. There were no injuries.

Crash: On Jan. 7 at about 11:15 p.m. state police responded to an accident on Hillside Road in Norwegian Township. Gregory Florick, 18, Pottsville, struck a large rock in the road, causing disabling damage to the undercarriage of his car. There were no injuries. The car was towed.

Crash: On Jan. 6 at about 1:45 a.m. state police responded to an accident on Route 901 near SPCA Road in North Manheim Township. Joshua Smith, 41, Schuylkill Haven, ran off the road into an embankment and left the scene. He was located by Schuylkill County EMS and flown to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest with non-life threatening injuries. Smith was charged with DUI.

Crash: State police responded to an accident on Jan. 6 at about 11:45 p.m. on Mount Carbon Arch Road in Mount Carbon. Emekie Thomas, 22, Pottsville, was driving too fast for the snowy conditions, and his vehicle struck a concrete bridge support barrier. Thomas and his passenger Jahleel Edwards, 27, Pottsville, were transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment by Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven Area EMS. The car was towed.

Theft by deception: On Jan. 4 at about 5:20 p.m. Nathan Bach, 33, Tower City, notified state police that fraudulently accessed his Facebook account and made a $25 purchase with a linked credit card. Bach notified Facebook as well as the appropriate agencies to advise that his identity was compromised. State police continue to investigate.

Theft: State police were called to Somewhere in Time Sports Collectibles, 1544 Route 61 South in North Manheim Township. Sometime between Jan. 3 at 11 p.m. and Jan. 4 at 9 a.m. someone removed about $5,000 worth of football cards.

Theft of services: On Dec. 30 at about 10:10 a.m., state police responded to Circle Drive in Pine Grove Township for a report of theft of services. The Pine Grove man told police he gave the owner of Dr. Chimney $1,090 to perform chimney maintenance in September. The job was never started. State police continue to investigate.

Criminal mischief: State police responded to a report of criminal mischief at Cressona Borough Hall. Sometime between Dec. 26 at about 7 p.m. and Dec. 27 at about 11 a.m. someone damaged a wreath. Police continue to investigate.
