Police Reports, May 4, 2023

The following information is taken from police reports and court records.

Missing Person: On April 25 at about 11 a.m., David Monroe Rhodes went for a walk and did not return to his home on Long Run Road in Wayne Township. He is 5 feet 8 inches and about 200 pounds. He was last seen walking toward Schuylkill Haven wearing a black hooded jacket, blue jeans, camouflage hat and glasses. He has a white beard and brown hair. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at  570-754-4600.

Criminal Mischief: State police are investigating an act of vandalism reported by a woman on North Street in Port Carbon. The woman told police that on April 24 between noon and 7 a.m., the tires on her SUV were slashed.

Crash: On April 22 at about 2 p.m., state police responded to an accident on Route 901 south of Beckville Road. Daniel Tobash, 40, Schuylkill Haven, hit the rear of a car driven by Marie Butscunas, 84, Port Carbon. Butscunas was attempting to pull out of a parking lot when the accident occurred. There were no injuries. Butscunas’ car had disabling damage.

Criminal Mischief: On April 22 at about 2:30 p.m., state police responded to Tremont Road in Pine Grove Township for an act of vandalism. The man told police his vehicle’s windshield was damaged. The investigation is continuing.

Criminal Mischief: State police responded to a report of criminal mischief between Dec. 25 and April 20 at Hillside Road in Norwegian Township. Someone pushed a gravestone onto the ground at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. It was valued at about $500.

Crash: On April 16 at about 11:20 p.m., state police were dispatched to a hit and run crash on Wilder Street at Sillyman Street in Cressona. Tyrus Halford, 23, Schuylkill Haven, struck a wooden light post and then fled. He was found at his residence. There were no injuries in the crash. Halford was charged with DUI.

Crash: On April 14 at about 12:10 p.m. state police responded to an accident on Route 443 at Geary Wolfe Road in Pine Grove Township. Natasha Beck, 20, Auburn, was stopped while waiting to make a left turn when John Venszl, 49, Pine Grove, struck the rear of her SUV. Venszl was transported by EMS to Lehigh Valley Hospital East. A young passenger in Beck’s vehicle was transported to Geisinger St. Luke’s. Police continue their investigation.

Theft: State police are investigating the theft of a Briggs & Stratton generator valued at about $200. The theft occurred sometime between April 5 at 7 p.m. and April 6 at 1 p.m. from South Fourth Street in Tower City.

Theft: State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle on Westwood Road in Norwegian Township, reported on April 2.

Theft: On March 27, state police are investigating a reported theft from Northeast Auto Liquidator, Route 61, North Manheim Township. Someone removed catalytic converters from four vehicles between March 24 at 5 p.m. and March 27 at 9 a.m. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers at 570-754-4600.

Crash: On March 23 at about 8 a.m. state police responded to an accident at 270 Route 61 S  in North Manheim Township. John Davis, 48, Schuylkill Haven, sideswiped a vehicle. Davis left the scene without notifying police. He was issued traffic citations.
