Police Reports, May 5, 2022

The following information comes from police reports and court records.

Crash: On April 21 at about 8:15 a.m. state police responded to an accident on Route 61 in North Manheim Township. Daniel Long, 43, Schuylkill Haven, was driving on Route 61 when his vehicle left the road, went up an embankment and overturned. It came to a stop in the right lane of Route 61. Long suffered a minor injury.

Crash: On April 21 at about 10:15 a.m. state police responded to an accident at 669 Main St. in Porter Township. Darren Hikes, 54, Pine Grove, was driving north on Main Street and lost control of his vehicle, which hit a residence. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed away. Hikes was issued a warning and citations.

Warrant: On April 21 at about 4:45 p.m. at Centre Turnpike and Pine View Lane in West Brunswick Township, state police conducted a traffic stop for a speeding violation. Scott Sitler, 39, Womelsdorf, was arrested on an outstanding warrant, and new charges were filed for driving while suspended.

Scattering Rubbish: On April 21, state police investigated a report of illegal dumping in West Brunswick Township. Tires were dumped on River Road near Turkey Lane. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact state police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks at 570-754-4600.

Crash: On April 20 at about 3:20 p.m. state police responded to an accident on the Gordon Nagle Trail in North Manheim Township. Samantha Leedom, 21, Pottsville, was driving south on the Gordon Nagle Trail near Red Horse Road. Kaitlyn Gasbarra, 27, Cressona,  was driving north. Leedom slowed down to make a left turn and did not see Gasbarra coming in the northbound lane. Her vehicle struck Leedom’s SUV, which hit a commercial sign. All operators and passengers of both vehicles had minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed.

Crash: On April 18 at about 12:15 p.m. state police responded to an accident on Ridge Road in Upper Mahantango Township. Edward Boyer, 74, Dornsife, was following Dennis Heim, 64, Pitman. When Heim slowed down to make a turn he was struck by Boyer in the driver’s side of his pickup. Boyer’s minivan had disabling front-end damage and Heim’s pickup had disabling driver’s side damage. Both vehicles were towed. There were no injuries.

Crash: State police responded to an accident on Pottsville Street at Park Street, Cressona on April 17 at about 11:15 p.m. A car driven by Nicolas Peterson, 37, Cressona, drifted into the westbound lane and hit a car driven by Jessica Elo, 44, Cressona. There were no injuries. Both cars were towed.

Theft: On April 16 state police were dispatched to Trainers Lane in Pine Grove Township for a report of theft. Sometime between April 2 and April 16 someone stole a 7-foot steel seesaw frame from the Lebanon man’s property. The frame was valued at about $1,000.

Theft: On April 13 state police investigated a report of a catalytic converter theft at S&S Leasing Company, Market Street, West Brunswick Township. The catalytic converter was taken off a company box truck between the hours of 6 p.m. April 12. and 6 a.m. April 13.

Crash: State police responded to an accident on April 11 at about 8:40 a.m. in North Manheim Township. An unidentified vehicle was traveling south as Arthur Morey, 79, Auburn, was driving north on Route 183 near Morning Side Drive. The unidentified driver partially entered  the northbound lane, striking the driver’s side mirror of Morey’s 2017 Toyota Sienna. Morey was not injured.

Crash: On April 8 at about 12:10 p.m. state police responded to an accident on Route 209 in Porter Township. Ryan Ghaney Costello, 21, Tower City, drove over running water, lost control of his vehicle and struck an embankment. The vehicle then overturned. It had disabling damage and was towed. There were no injuries

Crash: On March 30 at about 12:05 a.m. state police responded to an accident in New Castle Township. Jaden Baines, 20, Pottsville, was fleeing police when he lost control of the Kia and began rotating clockwise. While rotating, he struck the guide rail causing damage to the front driver’s side and then attempted to flee on foot. He was apprehended by police. Baines was not injured. His car was towed.

Theft Retail/Shoplifting: On March 29 at about 2:45 p.m. state police were called to BG’s Value Market, 24 Pleasant Valley Road in Pine Grove Township for retail theft, and device fraud. Jayson Garcia, 37, Pottsville was charged after cashing a fraudulent paycheck.

Crash: State police responded to an accident on March 22 at about 1:15 p.m. on Chestnut Street in Cressona. Heather Martin, 29, Pine Grove, backed into gas pumps and fled the scene without notifying the owner or police of the damage.

Theft Retail/Shoplifting: On March 22 at about 7 p.m. state police responded to a report of theft at BG’s Value Market, 24 Pleasant Valley Road in Pine Grove Township. Felix Romeu, 39, Cumbola, was charged with felony access device fraud, retail theft, and theft for utilizing a fraudulent paycheck at BG’s Value Market to steal more than $800 worth of merchandise and cash.

Crash: On March 19 at about 7:40 a.m. state police responded to a crash in Wayne Township. Anthony Webb, 37, Friedensburg, was driving north when his vehicle struck a utility pole and rolled over, sustaining disabling damage. Webb was found to be possession of a controlled substance. He was suspected to have a minor injury but refused transport.
