Police reports, Oct. 21, 2021

The following information comes from police reports and court records.

Burglaries: On Oct. 12 state police were notified of multiple burglaries in the area of 965 Wynonah Drive in Lake Wynonah. Anyone who observed suspicious activity in the area or has video surveillance on their property is asked to contact the state police at 570-754-4600 in reference to incident PA2021-1372947.

Theft: On Oct. 12, a Philadelphia man reported to state police that the catalytic converter was stolen from his vehicle that was parked on Penn Street near 3C’s Restaurant. The theft took place sometime between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 570-754-4600.

Theft: On Oct. 10, a Pine Grove man reported to state police that someone stole buckets and animal feed from his shed on Roedersville Road in Washington Township.

Crash: On Oct. 9 at about 11:20 p.m. state police responded to an accident on Deturksville Road in Washington Township. Rosa Castaldo, 21, Asbury, N.J., struck a deer, resulting in disabling damage to her vehicle. Neither she nor her passenger was injured.

Crash: State police responded to an accident on 2½ Mile Road at Oak Grove Road in Pine Grove Township on Oct. 8 at about 4:50 a.m. Bradley Merwine, 42, Hegins, overcompensated making a turn, and his vehicle crashed into a ditch and tree. The vehicle had disabling damage. Merwine had minor injuries and fled.

Burglary: On Oct. 8, Trans Continental Pipeline reported to state police that a Generac generator valued at $2,500 was taken from the property at Molleystown Road in Tremont Township. The property has been abandoned for about four years.

Crash: On Oct. 8 at about 4 p.m. state police responded to a three-vehicle accident on Route 501 in Pine Grove Township. Zachary Weaver, 26, Myerstown; Michael Goff, 32, Earleville, Md.; and Kelsey Hughes, 25, Pine Grove, were driving north on Route 501. Hughes told police that a vehicle not involved in the accident applied his turn signal ahead of her and attempted to turn left onto Mexico Road, leading to a chain-reaction crash involving Goff’s and Weaver’s vehicles. Weaver’s vehicle had disabling damage. Goff and Hughes were able to drive from the scene. No injuries were reported.

Warrant out of state: On Oct. 8 at about 5:45 p.m. Store employees saw a man acting suspiciously at a convenience store on Route 61 South in North Manheim Township and contacted state police. Police determined that the Claysburg man was wanted in Maryland. He was taken into custody and charged as a fugitive. A police search also found him to be in possession of medications not prescribed, heroin packets and related paraphernalia.

Crash: On Oct. 8 at about 7:20 p.m. state police responded to an accident on Gold Mine Road in Tremont Township. Steven Hess, 27, Hatfield, was driving north at a high rate of speed when he lost control and struck a utility pole. Passengers Jasmine Felton, 29, Gambrills, Va. and Jorge Vasquez, 25, Gainesville, Va., were transported by Tower-Porter Community Ambulance to Hershey Medical Center for their injuries. The driver and his other passenger were not injured.

Crash: State police responded to an accident on Route 209 east of Franklin Road in Frailey Township on Oct. 7 at 1:49 a.m. Robert Gallagher, 57, Hazleton, drifted off the road and crashed into a tree. His SUV had disabling damage. Gallagher was transported by Tremont Area Ambulance to Lehigh Valley East for his injuries.

Crash: On Oct. 7 at about 5:45 p.m. state police responded to an accident on Route 209 near Tower Street in Porter Township. Randall Russelavage, 62, Tower City, veered into the oncoming lane, striking a  truck head-on. Russelavage and his passenger Dawn Russelavage, 70, Tower City, were transported to Geisinger-Danville by Lifeflight. The truck driver, Brad Miller, 31, Lancaster, was transported by Hegins Area Ambulance Association to Lehigh Valley East. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Theft: On Oct. 7 at about 6 p.m. troopers were dispatched to Old Forge Road and Suedberg Road in Pine Grove Township. A Pine Grove woman told police that someone took a catalytic converter valued at $300 from her pickup truck. Police continue to investigate.

Crash: On Oct. 6 at about 3:30 a.m. state police responded to a one-vehicle accident on East. Mountain Road in Hegins Township. Bradley Merwine, 42, Hegins, crossed into the southbound lane and hit a utility pole. Electrical service was interrupted to the area. Merwine fled the scene but was later located and charged.

Theft by deception: On Oct. 6 state police were dispatched to Panther Valley Road in Wayne Township for a report of credit card fraud. Police determined that someone accessed the Pine Grove man’s credit card information and made several online purchases. Police are continuing to investigate.

Crash: On Oct. 1, state police responded to an accident on Route 443 at Route 183 in Wayne Township. Vehicles driven by Michael Dietrich, 56, Schuylkill Haven, and Julie Drummer, 36, Schuylkill Haven, collided. There were no injuries to either driver or Drummer’s passenger. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Dietrich was charged for following too closely.
