Police reports, Sept. 16, 2021

The following information comes from police reports and court records.

Crash: There were no injuries in an accident on East Grand Avenue west of 10th Street in Tower City on Sept. 2. State police said Denise Beck-Dove, 64, Tower City, was attempting to make a turn and struck an SUV driven by Karen Wetzel, 66, Williamstown. Beck-Dove’s vehicle was disabled and Wetzel’s was operable.

Crash: On Sept. 2, state police responded to an accident at East Main and New streets in North Manheim Township. Casey Cromyak, 20, Pottsville, pulled out in front of Anthony Schuring, 23, Schuylkill Haven, causing a collision. A stopped vehicle driven by David Osatchuck, 59, Auburn, was hit as well. A passenger in the Cromyak car suffered a minor injury but refused to be transported to the hospital.

Burglary: On Aug. 31, state police were dispatched to Coal Mountain Road in West Brunswick Township for a reported burglary. The property owner said he arrived at his home to find a man inside attempting to take a shower after he had helped himself to food and beer. When police arrived the man fled on foot. He was located a short time later walking along Route 61. Devon Shaak, 31, Pine Grove, he was taken into custody and charged with burglary, criminal trespass and criminal mischief. He was held at Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $50,000 straight cash bail.

Criminal mischief: On Aug. 29, state police were dispatched to West Main and Crescent streets in Tremont. A Lykens man reported to police that the windshield on his vehicle had been smashed. Police continue to investigate.

Crash: On Aug. 29, state police responded to an accident at Route 443 and Fisher Road in Wayne Township. Alana Urba, 40, West Palm Beach, Fla., struck a deer that ran into the road. There were no injuries to Urba or her passenger. Hervehicle was towed from the scene.

Crash: On Aug. 25, state police responded to a crash on Gold Mine Road in Tremont Township. Police said Tyler Rosenberry, 21, Manheim, was having trouble with his vehicle due an issue with its brakes and hit a guide rail and went down an embankment. He was not injured. The vehicle had disabling left side damage.

Theft: On Aug. 24, state police were dispatched to Tremont Road in Pine Grove Township for a report of theft. A man from York reported to police that a catalytic converter had been cut off of a vehicle in his parking lot. Police continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police in reference to incident PA2021-1149790 at 570-754-4600.

Crash: On Aug. 24, state police responded to an accident on Route 209 in Porter Township. Kayla Teets, 31, Lebanon, failed to yield while making a left turn and collided with a vehicle driven by Damian Snook, 31, Tower City. No injuries were reported.

Drug possession: On Aug. 23, state police responded to 250 Chestnut Street in Cressona for a report of a car crashing into a utility pole. A Philadelphia man, was suspected to be under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of the accident. Troopers searched his vehicle and found marijuana, methamphetamine, and prescription pills as well as a nonlethal compressed air gun. The man was placed under arrest for DUI and possession with intent to distribute. He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Plachko and placed in the Schuylkill County Prison.
