Prospectus Berco Rolls Out the Red Carpet for Awards Banquet

Prospectus Berco was thrilled to resume its Annual Awards Banquet on Sunday, Sept. 15, at the DoubleTree in Reading. The Awards Banquet is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of individuals enrolled in our services, along with recognizing our community partners who support Prospectus Berco in its mission to provide meaningful support for adults with disabilities living and working in Berks County.

Highlights of the Annual Awards Banquet include a special recognition to the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance as our Partner in Success. Last year, GRCA and its marketing team produced a Membership Spotlight, affording Prospectus Berco the opportunity to share our story across social media and their membership network. Leah Fassnacht, Marketing Director for the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance, led the project, collaborating with Bell Media to produce the digital story. Upon accepting the award on behalf of GRCA, Leah Fassnacht said, “They teach you in journalism school that everyone has a story. While I have found that to be true, I think there are some stories that need to be told. The story of this organization and the great work you do in the community is one of those stories.”

Prospectus Berco and its services are greatly enhanced by the businesses and individuals that support us in our mission. We were honored to present several more community awards:

• Partner in Business was awarded to Origlio Beverage in Reading for making the dream of employment possible for one of our consumers. We are pleased to share that the individual is competitively employed and able to maintain his job independently.
• Michael Billera-Smith was presented with the Outstanding Volunteer Award for his dedication and service in support of the mission as a member of the board of Directors, Treasurer, Chairman of the Golf Committee, and member of the Finance Committee. His contributions have been invaluable to the advancement of the corporation.
• Our Partner in Progress was presented to John Hunter, a compassionate visionary whose expertise enhances the lives of the individuals Prospectus Berco serves. In addition to serving on our board of directors, he designed and built ramps for several of our community homes, while enlisting the help of the vocational team to help install them. He assisted with several energy efficiency measures, helping our corporation become more energy efficient and reducing our operational expenses. He is a strong advocate for his son and for individuals with disabilities and is dedicated to enriching the lives of others.
• Partners in Fun Award was introduced to honor the Give Us a Minute Band, who have been performing monthly for individuals in the Adult Training Program for the past several years. The musicians will tell you that Prospectus Berco is their favorite place to perform, as the participants join in dancing, clapping their hands, playing air guitar, and lots of foot-stomping fun. 

While there remain many more people and organizations we are indebted to for collaborating, the true benefactors of their dedication and service are the hundreds of individuals who benefit from our services. Prospectus Berco is honored to take this time to recognize the personal achievements of several individuals enrolled in our programs. Whether adapting to new living arrangements, life changes, exceeding health and wellness goals, or being recognized for enhancing our community through volunteerism, these individuals were excited to share the limelight at our red-carpet event: Christine Cola, Anthony Davis, Glenn Geiger, Giffey Garcia, Stephen Groves, John Haag, Kimberly Harner, Jereck Oliver, Angel Roldan, David Ranck, John Reinert, Terry Rupp, Victor Santiago, Scott Santo, and Nicholas Yanuskiewicz.

Prospectus Berco is inspired by the many individuals who continue to exceed expectations by living ordinary lives in extraordinary ways. It is an honor and privilege to serve our community in this meaningful way.
