Reading Area Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Mark Detterline and Mr. Mitchell Micale to its Board of Trustees.
Reading native Mark Detterline serves as senior assistant dean and director of selection at Swarthmore College. In his current role, Mark oversees the entirety of Swarthmore’s application review process, including all aspects of training, oversight, scheduling, and overall completion.
Additionally, Mark has served the Pennsylvania Association of College Admissions Counseling (PACAC) on the scholarship committee and is a member of PACAC’s Executive Committee and President’s Council as treasurer. Mark has served as faculty for the PACAC Summer Institute, a program geared toward professionals entering the college admissions field, and has also served as faculty for College Horizons and the Cherokee Nation College Prep Institute, two programs aimed at providing a foundation and college advising for native students.
Locally, Mark has served as a Director on the Reading School District Board of Directors, the Reading Recreation Commission Board, and the Berks County Intermediate Unit Board of Directors. Currently, Mark serves as Assistant Secretary and Executive Committee Member on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for the Reading Public Museum. Mark is the proud father of two children, Roman and Milani, whom he is raising in Laureldale alongside his wife, Siani.
Mitchell Micale is an elementary school teacher in the Wilson School District. Outside the classroom, Mitchell is deeply engaged in community service and committed to strengthening Berks County through hands-on involvement and leadership.
He also serves as a strategic advisor to elected officials, focusing on legislative strategy, communications, and community engagement, building coalitions, shaping policy, and ensuring the government remains responsive to its constituents.
Mitchell is pursuing graduate studies in educational leadership and ethics at Alvernia University.
