The Reading Buccaneers Drum & Bugle Corps placed second at its third competition of the 2022 Drum Corps Associates season Saturday night at Williamsport High School.
The group had taken first place honors in the first two competitions of the season.
The Buccaneers is a nonprofit musical organization that was first formed in 1957 as a parade corps by various local junior corps and veterans of World War II and Korea. The group is a charter member of Drum Corps Associates and competes annually for the national championship title.
The group also performs at various venues including, parades, exhibitions, concerts and field shows.
At the competition this past weekend, the Buccaneers scored 83.45 out of a possible 100 points and took top honors in visual category. Finishing in first were the Caballeros of Hawthorne, N.J., with 84.15, and placing third were the White Sabers of Dansville, N.Y., with 77.65.
The next competition for the Buccaneers will be the Drum Corps International Eastern Classic on Saturday in Allentown. For ticket information, visit dcacorps.org.
