Reading City Council District 1 representative resigns after 3 months

Reading District 1 Council Member Brianna Tyson has resigned.

Tyson, 27, tendered her resignation, effective Wednesday.

Council will hold a special meeting Friday to introduce a resolution accepting Tyson’s resignation. The agenda has been posted on the city’s website.

Council will vote on the resolution at its regular meeting Monday.

Tyson took office in January, replacing Lucine Sihelnik, who chose not to seek an additional term.

The special meeting will be recorded on video and can be viewed as it happens or later on Facebook Live and on BCTV MAC Channel 99.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the public is prohibited from attending the meeting in person.

Meetings with in-person audiences are to resume Monday.

Instructions for attending Friday’s meeting virtually can be found on the city’s website.

Public comment can be made by telephone or virtual meeting application by registering with the City Clerk at 610-655-6205 by noon Friday or in writing by emailing council@readingpa.gov by 4 p.m. Friday.
