Game recap: At Hadlock Field, the Fightin Phils hit three home runs, two in a five-run second inning, to defeat Portland in a Double-A Northeast League game. Reading won five of the six games in the series.
Logan O’Hoppe hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot, and Luke Miller hit a two-run blast, his 13th, to help chase Portland starter Andrew Politi (5-9) in the second inning. Brock Stassi hit a two-run homer in the fifth, his first.
Bryson Stott went 3-for-5 with an RBI and scored a run for Reading, which collected 10 hits off seven Portland pitchers.
Noah Skirrow (1-2), the second of five Reading pitchers, got the win. Zach Warren struck out the only batter he faced in the ninth to earn his second save after Brian Marconi allowed two hits, including a home run, and two walks in the ninth.
Tanner Nishioka hit two home runs for Portland.
On deck: The Fightin Phils are off Monday before opening a six-game series Tuesday at Hartford.
