Reading High defeats Chester in boys basketball

Ruben Rodriguez scored 10 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter to help Reading High beat Chester in a non-league boys basketball game Wednesday at Chester.

The Red Knights (10-1) led 23-14 after a quarter, but the Clippers (3-2) came back top tie it 47-47 after three.
Rodriguez, a junior guard, then made four field goals and two free throws in the fourth as Reading outscored Chester 20-16.

Joey Chapman and Myles Grey each scored 12 for the Red Knights. Daniel Alcantara, who hadn’t played since Dec. 21 while serving a suspension, returned and scored three points.

Larenzo Jerkins led the Clippers with 15 points.

Chester was playing just its second game since Dec. 19 due to COVID-19. The Clippers beat Penn Wood 70-66 Tuesday.
