HERSHEY — Reading High defeated Roman Catholic 63-56 in overtime in the PIAA Class 6A championship game Saturday at Giant Center.
The win gave the Red Knights (32-1) their third state title since 2017.
Reading High’s Yadiel Cruz made both ends of a one-and-one with 1:24 to tie it at 57-57, then made another with 1:05 left to give the Red Knights the lead for good with 1:05 left.
Nick Chapman sealed it with a steal in the final seconds.
Xzayzier Brown had made 1-of-2 from the line with 1.7 seconds left in regulation to tie it for Roman Catholic (27-4).
