Reading man accused of sexually assaulting 2 young girls

A Reading man has been accused of sexually assaulting two girls over several years, starting when the victims were of elementary school age or younger.

Luis I. Negron, 32, of the 300 block of Schuylkill Avenue was committed to Berks County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail to await a hearing following arraignment last week before District Judge Carissa Johnson. Court records indicate he has not posted bail.

Berks County detectives arrested Negron on May 12 on two counts each of rape of a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child and related charges, according to court records.

According to the probable cause affidavit:

On March 10, investigators conducted forensic interviews of both girls, now ages 13 and 12, at the Children’s Alliance Center, after receiving allegations of sexual abuse by Negon, whom they knew.

One victim, now 13, disclosed the sexual assaults began when she was 4 or 5 and continued over years in various residences

The other victim, now 12, also disclosed engaging in various sexual acts with Negron, most recently in January. It was unclear when those assaults began, but Negron admitted in an April 27 interview with detectives that he began sexually assaulting her when she was as young as 8.

The investigation is ongoing.
