Reading Royals down Toledo Walleye to complete road trip with fourth straight win

Trevor Gooch had two goals and an assist and Logan Flodell made 32 saves as the Reading Royals beat the Toledo Walleye 5-2 Sunday to complete a five-game road trip with four straight wins.

After losing 4-3 in overtime to Wheeling in the trip’s first game, Reading beat Wheeling 4-1 on Feb. 23, the Indy Fuel 6-2 on Friday and Toledo 4-1 on Saturday.

Reading scored the game’s first four goals Sunday, including three in the first period.

Brad Morrison, who finished with a goal and an assist, scored the Royals’ first goal at 6:58 and Brayden Low followed at 7:17 to make it 2-0. Gooch made it 3-0 after one.

Anthony Gagnon gave Reading a 4-0 lead in the second period.

The Walleye scored two goals in the third before Gooch scored into the empty net.

Patrick Bajkov had two assists for Reading, which was outshot 34-19.
