One day after scoring five goals, Reading’s offense fell quiet on Saturday night against Maine.
The Royals scored just one goal and fell 2-1 to the Mariners in an ECHL game at Portland, Maine.
Reading is 0-2 this season against the Mariners.
Forward Jacob Pritchard scored late in the first period to give the Royals a 1-0 lead. Pritchard was assisted by forwards Brayden Low and Kenny Hausinger.
Maine tied it midway through second period on a power-play goal from forward Cameron Askew. Forward Nick Master scored the short-handed, game-winning goal for the Mariners with less than five minutes remaining in the third period.
Reading goaltender Kirill Ustimenko made 23 saves. The Royals outshot Maine 32-25.
