Redner’s Markets donates $65,000 to Ukraine relief efforts

Redner’s Markets has announced a $65,000 donation toward humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine by Project HOPE.

Throughout July and August, Redner’s Markets held a round-up fundraiser, allowing customers to round up their purchase to the nearest even dollar amount and donate the difference.

Redner’s pledged to match the donations up to $25,000.

Project HOPE is a global nonprofit that aims to transform the health and well-being of vulnerable people by partnering with communities, health care workers and public health systems, according to the organization’s website.

Since the Russian invasion, Project HOPE has been working in Ukraine and the neighboring countries of Moldova, Poland and Romania to support health facilities, provide essential medical equipment and supplies, and meet the needs of Ukrainian refugees, including primary health, mental health and psychosocial support, Redner’s said in a press release.

“Most heartbreaking is the need for basic medical and sanitary needs for women and children,” said Gary M. Redner, Redner’s chief operating officer. “This donation is providing direct relief to these vulnerable populations.”

Redner said his company connected with Project HOPE through a partnership with the National Grocer’s Association.

“It has been months since the Russian invasion, but the people of Ukraine need us now more than ever as we anticipate the escalation of war set against the backdrop of a very long and cold winter season,” Rabih Torbay, president and CEO of Project HOPE, said in the release. “Thanks to the generosity of Redner’s Markets associates and guests, Project HOPE can remain committed to the people of Ukraine as we provide medical and mental health support, repair impacted hospitals, ensure access to life-saving medications and provide safe spaces for displaced children.”
