Ron Moreck will defend Pagoda Hillclimb title

Racers from several states are registered for the annual Pagoda Hillclimb in Reading, June 22-23.

The Hillclimb, part of the Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association (PHA) Championship Series, is sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America  (SCCA), and is hosted by the local chapter, Blue Mountain Region SCCA.

Last year’s overall winner and setter of a new course record, Ron Moreck of Kingston, will defend his title.  He’ll be up against stiff competition from several previous winners, all eager to reclaim “King of The Hill” status.

The start line of the 1.35 mile course is at the bottom of Duryea Drive at the intersection with 13th Street Extension, and the Finish Line is just below the Pagoda.

Competition begins Saturday at about 9:30 a.m. and continues until approximately 4 p.m.  On Sunday the event gets underway about 9 a.m. and ends around 4 p.m.

Admission is by voluntary donation and benefits Pagoda-Skyline, Inc.  A shuttle bus will be in service both days taking riders to the Pagoda and various spectating areas.  Ridership is by voluntary donation to the Reading Rec Center, Third and Spruce.
