Route 222 in Maidencreek Township reopens following tractor-trailer fire

A section of Route 222 has reopened after a tractor-trailer fire that started early Monday morning along Route 222 in Maidencreek Township closed the road for hours, according to emergency dispatchers.

The truck was disabled near Pleasant Hill Road sometime around 4 a.m. and traffic was being detoured around that area, according to dispatchers.

By about 9 a.m. the road was reopened in both directions.

The incident led to numerous calls to Berks 9-1-1 as the morning commute was being slowed, dispatchers said.

No further details on the crash were available.
