YORK — Rutter’s Children’s Charities has made a donation of $100,000 to Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, the York County-based company announced Wednesday.
Wounded Warriors provides emergency financial assistance to veterans and their families — helping to pay for housing, utilities, transportation, medical, and other expenses for returning servicemen and servicewomen, the company said in a press release announcing the donation.
“We hold immense gratitude for those who have selflessly served to protect our nation,” Chris Hartman, president of Rutter’s Children’s Charities, said in a statement. “Our organization is privileged to work with the great folks at Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors to help make a difference this Veterans Day and beyond.”
Rutter’s involvement with Wounded Warriors started with a willingness by the convenience chain to place a cash collection jar for veterans’ assistance at one of its stores, according to retired Army Lt. Col. Frank Sajer. He added that the relationship has “blossomed into a substantial partnership” with Rutter’s Children’s Charities.
“Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors Inc. is truly fortunate to enjoy continuous support from Rutter’s Children’s Charities, particularly in this current year,” Sajer said in a statement, adding the company has become Wounded Warriors’ “most significant partner” in the Central Pennsylvania region.
Rutter’s operates 85 locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia, including three stores in Berks County — in Hamburg, on Route 61 near Leesport, and on Route 222 near Kutztown.
