Salvation Army Reading Citadel Corps distributes Thanksgiving turkeys, fixings

The Salvation Army Reading Citadel Corps held its annual Thanksgiving distribution Tuesday, providing 850 turkeys to those in need.

Tower Health provided 500 turkeys, and Helping Harvest provided 350 turkeys as well as Thanksgiving fixings and canned goods to be handed out at the corps, 301 S. Fifth St.

The corps red kettle was also available for donations to the holiday fundraising campaign. All proceeds will benefit underserved communities in Reading and help distribute toys, food, clothing and provide social service programs during the holidays and throughout the year.

The Salvation Army’s holiday message this year is to “Love Beyond Christmas” to help and care for neighbors in need not only during the holidays, but also year-round.
