Scholarships, April 21, 2024

Five residents of the Reading Housing Authority’s programs have been selected to receive financial assistance to help with their academic goals.

Caterin Ortiz of Glenside Homes and Jeremiah Santiago of Oakbrook Homes, both seniors at Reading High School, are the winners of the 2024 Stokes Stitt Scholarship competition. Each will receive a $2,000 per year award, renewable for up to four years.

Aaliyah Zambrano of RHA’s Housing Choice Voucher Program and Brian Estevez of Oakbrook Homes are recipients of the L. DeWitt Boosel Memorial Scholarship, awarded by the Pennsylvania Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies.

RHA client Lindsey Leon has been awarded the Paul G. Pecharko Memorial Scholarship and received a 2023 Stokes Stitt Scholarship.

Recipients will be honored by the RHA board at its monthly meeting on Tuesday.

Pagoda Pacers

The Pagoda Pacers Athletic Club awarded $1,000 scholarships to four local students.

Two scholarships are open to high school seniors whose parents are members of the Pagoda Pacers. The recipients of the 2024 Pacer Member Scholarship are Shannon Govern, a senior at Hamburg High School, who plans to attend Lehigh University; and Kenzie Padilla, a senior in the Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School’s University Scholars Program, who plans to attend Harvard University.

Two scholarships are open to high school seniors who participated on a Berks County high school cross country team. The recipients of the 2024 Cross Country scholarship are Addie Cohen, a Wyomissing senior, who plans to attend the University of Richmond; and Aiden Konetsky, a Schuylkill Valley senior who plans to attend St. Bonaventure University.
