Schuylkill County Conservancy April events

The Schuylkill County Conservancy announced the following April events:

April 5: Woodcock Watch/Owl Prowl, 7:15 to 8:45 p.m., Tuscarora State Park. Free event. Meet at the Crow Trail parking lot on the west side of the park and see American woodcocks displaying at dusk. The program includes a short hike to listen for owl species. This event is not dog friendly and will involve walking over uneven ground.  Please bring a flashlight/headlamp, wear sturdy shoes, and dress for the weather. Register by contacting Robin Tracey at 570-573-7293.

April 10: Tree Planting, 9 a.m.-noon, Fanelli Memorial Park, Orwigsburg. Help is needed to plant 10 shade trees. Meet at field entrance at 3041 Ridgeview Drive at 9. No experience required. Instructions will be provided.  Please contact Frank Snyder at 570 449-4239 to volunteer or for more information.

April 20: Frog Hollow Nature Center dedication, 8:30 a.m. Extra parking at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 24 Church Road, near Friedensburg. The ceremony will occur at the homestead area off the Wildflower Trail. Frog Hollow is Schuylkill County’s second county-owned park.

April 20: Earth Day Trail Cleanup at Frog Hollow, 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will work in teams to remove invasive plants that are just beginning to reemerge. Wear long pants and sturdy shoes and bring gloves, digging tools, pruners and a water bottle. Bring bug spray if you wish. Snacks and water refills will be available, and trash bags will be provided.

April 27: Whisper Walk-Five Senses Walk at Frog Hollow, 10 a.m. Hear, smell, observe and touch nature. No pets permitted on this walk.
