The Greater Schuylkill Haven Area Business Association honored five local non-profits with monetary awards during a Dec. 5 program at Schuylkill Haven American Legion Post 38.
The recipients were the Frontier Girls, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Boy Scout Troop 622, Schuylkill Haven Council of Churches and the Food Pantry and Weekender program.
Award winners are nominated by local businesses based on need as well as contributions to the health, education and service to the local community.
GSHABA President Jeff Spotts made the presentations, providing an overview of each organization. Recipients also gave a summary of their services and programs . Food was provided by GSHABA member The Cantina.
It was a great night for members and recipients to start the holiday season, organizers said.
