Schuylkill Haven church taking part in public Rosary reading

In conjunction with more than 20,000 locations across the United States, St. Ambrose Church will host the America Needs Fatima Rosary Rally on Saturday, Oct. 16, at noon at the Island Park Pavilion in Schuylkill Haven.

Catholics believe that on Oct. 17, 1917, Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, performed the miracle of the sun, which was witnessed by more than 70,000 people, including nonbelievers. Some converted after witnessing the miracle. This Rosary Rally is intended as a reminder to people on the street that conversion is possible.

Church leaders say that praying the Rosary in public is a powerful way to promote its recitation. During previous public Rosary rallies, non-Catholics have stopped and asked for Rosaries, wanting to learn this prayer that has existed since the 13th century.

The America Needs Fatima Rosary Rally began in 2007 in more than 2,100 locations across the United States and has grown to 10 times that size.

All are invited to join members of St. Ambrose Church at the Island Pavilion in Schuylkill Haven on Oct. 16 at noon for this hour of public prayer. For more information, call 570-385-1031.
