Schuylkill Haven replacing electrical equipment

Schuylkill Haven Borough Council approved the purchase of two new 15 kV feeder circuit breakers at its March 6 meeting.

Borough administrator Jessica Seiders said the purchase replaces aging breakers at the town substation. Council approval was needed to allow the borough to use the same vendor as other new circuit breakers to ensure they are all the same. Because bidding limits are exceeded, approval was needed to place the purchase with a particular vendor. The breakers cost $22,000 each.

In other business, the borough Island park will be holding a drive-thru dinner on March 16.

Council approved a letter from Hillside SPCA for a doggy Easter egg hunt at the Island on April 6.

The board approved scheduling this year’s Borough Day for Sept. 28.
