The Schuylkill County Historical Society is presenting its annual tree-decorating contest, with entries from the Stanhope School, St. Clair Community & Historical Society, Minersville Area Historical Society, Auburn Area Historical Society, the Schuylkill County Council for the Arts and more to come from other local nonprofit organizations.
The trees will be on display at the society at 305 N. Centre St., Pottsville, beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 22, when the society will be open until 7 p.m. in conjunction with the city’s unveiling of its new holiday lights. Hot chocolate will be served.
Visitors can vote as many times as they want for their favorite tree through Wednesday, Jan. 10. Each vote costs $1, and each participating organization will receive the proceeds from its tree’s votes.
The society is also seeking Schuylkill County-oriented memorabilia for its own tree.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday-Friday and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For further information, contact the society at 570-622-7540.
