Schuylkill River Greenway Association gets $300,000 state grant

The Schuylkill River Greenway Association was awarded a $300,000 grant from the state, some of which will help fund a project in Berks County.

The funding was made available through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, which is administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. It will be used for a variety of purposes, including a five-year strategic plan update, feasibility study for a 1-mile segment of the Schuylkill River Trail, design and construction of a boat launch and other outdoor programming.

In Berks, the grant will help cover the cost of designing a river access in Cumru Township.

C2P2 grants were created to promote conservation and recreation-focused projects and programs. They are awarded to municipalities and authorized nonprofit organizations for recreation, park and conservation projects.
