Seven Berks teams qualify for District 3 field hockey playoffs

Seven Berks field hockey teams have qualified for the District 3 playoffs, according to final power rankings posted by the district Thursday.

In Class 1A, Oley Valley (18-1) is the top seed and Schuylkill Valley (9-7-1) is seeded 10th.

In Class 2A, Twin Valley (18-2) is seeded second, Fleetwood (15-4) sixth, Daniel Boone (12-6-1) ninth and Berks Catholic (9-9) 15th.

In Class 3A, Wilson (16-4) is seeded fourth.

Play begins in all classes with first-round games Wednesday, Oct. 27.

In Class 1A, Schuylkill Valley plays at No. 7 Littlestown at 6 p.m.

Oley Valley has a first-round bye in the 14-team field and hosts the winner of the No. 9 Newport at No. 8 Susquehanna Township game in the quarterfinals Saturday, Oct. 30.

In Class 2A, where the top 16 qualified, Twin Valley hosts league rival Berks Catholic at 4 p.m., Fleetwood hosts No. 11 New Oxford at 7 p.m., and Daniel Boone plays at No. 8 Hershey at 7 p.m.

In the 12-team Class 3A field, Wilson has a first-round bye and will play at home against No. 5 Central Dauphin or the 12th seed, which will be Red Lion or Mifflin County, in the quarterfinals on Saturday Oct. 30.

The semifinals in all classes are Wednesday, Nov. 3. The finals are Saturday, Nov. 6.
