Hike: Meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Riverlands Educational Building, 634 Salem Blvd., Berwick. The trail is 5 miles and easy. Bring a lunch and water. Dogs are not allowed. Shine only. Registration and information: Robin at 570-467-02506.

Canoe and Kayak Rental Concession: Times: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Last rental at 6 p.m. Boats must be returned by 7. Located at the canoe launch near the Sweet Arrow Lake Clubhouse. Canoes, kayaks, rowboats, $10/hour per boat; canoes and rowboats seat up to three, kayaks seat one. PFD and paddles supplied. Rentals available Saturdays, Sundays, and Labor Day. First come, first served basis. Rentals will be made if conditions permit and staff is available.
Kayaking Courses: 9:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 2. Registration is required. Sign up at the Tuscarora State Park office prior to the event via phone at 570-467-2506 or in person. No online or fax registrations. Send a donation check of $10 made payable to the PA Parks and Forest Foundation. Class will be canceled in case of inclement weather. There is limited space for the program. If you have your own equipment, the cost is $3 per person. Participants meet at the park visitor center. Each child must be accompanied by an adult and be 12 or older. Classes posted at dcnr.state.pa.us under the calendar of events of Tuscarora State Park. You only need to sign up for one class.
Hike: 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 13, meet at visitor parking lot at Locust Lake State Park located before the contact station at 10 a.m. Participants will travel to another area to start the hike to explore the mountain behind the park and visit Silver Creek Fire Tower. Bring a lunch and your dog. Hike is 4 miles long and moderate in difficulty. Pets must be leashed and get along with people and other pets. Shine only. Pre-register: Robin at 570-467-2506.
