Arts & Crafts

This Is It: Meet the artist, Norma Weingast Hirsch, opening night, Thursday, Sept. 1, Tamaqua Arts Center, 125 Pine St., complimentary light refreshments and snacks, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Art will be on display through September.

Fired up Ceramics: For seniors and veterans 62 and up, at the Walk In Art Center every Friday, 1 to 3 p.m. Make pottery or sculptures. All supplies provided. A $6 donation is requested to help defer the cost. Information: 570-732-3728.

Outdoors

Walk Through Sunflowers: Through Aug. 26 at 10 Pebble Lane, Tamaqua (Near Heisler’s Dairy Bar), 1 to 8 p.m. Weather permitting walk the pathways of 16 acres of sunflowers and cut stems to create your very own bouquet for $10 a person, wagon ride, $5 per family. Pets are welcome as long as they are friendly and leashed. Other activities on weekends include Mitchell’s Grill & Catering, music and King Cole Winery.

Plant Swap: Saturday, Sept. 10, 2 p.m. Sweet Arrow Lake, Waterfall Pavilion. Pot up extra plants, label them and bring them to the plant swap. Bring your extra plants from dividing or seedlings and swap for an equivalent number of different plants. Includes flower, herbs, veggies, house plants, trees/shrubs, grounds cover, and bulbs/tubers. Please label using popsicle sticks, recycled plastic spoons and forks, or tabs cut from plastic milk jugs or plastic clamshell strawberry/fruit boxes. Information: 570-345-2637.

Line dancing: Held every Monday at the Walk In Art Center. This is an ongoing adult class, drop-in only, no partner or registration needed. It is $6 per class and pay at the door. Senior groups
