Walk for Recovery: 5-7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 7, Schuylkill Haven Island Park. Walk to support neighbors in recovery, community members struggling with substance use, family and friends impacted by a loved one’s substance use.

Heritage Day: 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, on the Square, Orwigsburg. All day fun, food and entertainment for all ages.

Folk Fest: 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, on the Parkway grass in front of Walk In Art Center, 220 Parkway, Schuylkill Haven. Ethnic food, live music and dance, live folk art demonstrations. Information: 570-732-3728.

Plant Swap: 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, Waterfall Pavilion, Sweet Arrow Lake Park, Route 443, Pine Grove. Pot up your extra plants, label them and bring them to the plant swap. Includes flower, herbs, veggies, house plants, trees/shrubs, grounds cover, and bulbs/tubers. Yoga and a Hike: 8 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, Hope Hill Lavender Farm LLC, 2375 Panther Valley Road, Pottsville. Enjoy a relaxing morning connecting with nature and take in the beauty of the farm. Hike: 10:30 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 10, meet at visitor parking lot at Locust Lake State Park before contact station at 10:15 a.m. and travel to another area to start hike. Explore mountain behind the park and visit Silver Creek Fire Tower. Hike is 5 miles and moderate in difficulty. Bring a lunch and your dog. History

Schuylkill County Historical Society: 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 7, 305 N. Centre St., Pottsville. The Molly Maguires program will be repeated. Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 6:30, “Porcupine” Pat McKinney will discuss the history and practice of the Pennsylvania German healing practice of pow wow, a Bible-based folk medicine, which uses verbal incantations, gestures and manipulation of material objects. Admission is free to society members and $5 for the general public. All who plan to attend should reserve their seat to ensure they don’t get turned away.
