South Schuylkill News Food Pantries, March 9, 2023

Auburn: Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank will be open on the parking lot at the Auburn Borough Building, 451 Pearson St., from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, March 15. Volunteers will help load your car with meats, fruit, vegetables, juice and other goodies. Donations vary monthly. The food bank is open the third Wednesday of each month.

Cressona: The Cressona food pantry will be open Friday, March 24, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Faith Assembly of God Church, 18 S. Second St. It is open the fourth Friday of each month.

Orwigsburg: The Orwigsburg Food Pantry will hold its monthly food distribution Saturday, March 18, 9 to 11 a.m. The pantry is in St. John’s United Church of Christ, 232 E. Market St., and is open the third Saturday of every month.

Orwigsburg: Helping Harvest will hold a monthly Mobile Market in Orwigsburg, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, March 25, and the fourth Saturday of each month thereafter at the parking lot at Blum’s Auction House, 1506 Centre Turnpike #6 (Route 61).

Pine Grove: The Pine Grove Area Council of Churches Food Pantry will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 18, for families of Pine Grove borough and Pine Grove and Washington townships. The pantry, which is open on the third Saturday of every month, is in the lower level of the weekday church school building at 200 School St. For more information or emergency food, call 570-345-3033 between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. If there is no answer, callers may leave a message.

Pine Grove Area Pathway: A food and essential item pantry serves families in the Pine Grove Area School District. It is located at 42 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, with entrance through the little blue door on the ground floor. No parking in the Legion lot. Shopping hours are the first and third Thursday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. The next shopping day is Thursday, March 16. Customers must show proof of residency to shop there. A $10 cash donation is requested.

Schuylkill Haven: The Schuylkill Haven Food Pantry will be open Friday, March 17, from 12 to 3 p.m. The pantry is behind the Walk In Art Center on Market Street between Parkway and St. Charles Street and serves residents of Auburn, Cressona, Deer Lake, Landingville, Orwigsburg, Schuylkill Haven and North Manheim, South Manheim, Wayne and West Brunswick townships. The pantry distributes food on the third Friday every month.

Tremont: The Tremont Area Food Pantry distributes from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 18. It is in the Tremont Municipal Building, 139 Clay St., Suite 6. Entrance to the pantry is through the handicapped-accessible doors on the side of the building facing the tennis/basketball courts. The pantry serves Tremont borough and township and Frailey and Reilly townships. It is open on the third Saturday of each month.

A “Day Old Baked Goods” distribution is also available on Tuesday, March 14, 11 a.m. until noon at the Tremont Municipal Building. Open to everyone.

Tower City: The Williams Valley Food Pantry, via Schuylkill Community Action, will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at 800 E. Grand Ave., Tower City. The pantry serves the Williams Valley School District. For referral or other information, call SCA at 570-622-1995, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The pantry is open the third Saturday of each month.
