South Schuylkill News Police Reports, Dec. 28, 2023

The following information comes from police reports and court records.

Dog Law – Non Animal Cruelty: On Dec. 17 at about 1:45 p.m., state police were called to West Center Street in Frailey Township for a dog bite. The Donaldson man’s dog broke free from his chain in the back yard of his residence, then entered a neighboring property and attacked a dog there. In an attempt to separate the animals, the neighbor was bit on the hand. He did not have any major injuries. The owner of the dog responsible was cited.

Crash: State police responded to an accident on Dec. 15 at about 1 p.m. on Pottsville Street in Mechanicsville. Charles Bedford, 34, Pottsville, backed into a vehicle and caused minor damage to it, but he did not report it. No injuries were reported.

Crash: On Dec. 13 at about 6 a.m., state police responded to an accident on Route 443 in Wayne Township. Hunter Kennedy, 25, Mount Joy, and Brittany Martin, 20, Pine Grove, were traveling east. Martin slowed down to make a turn and was rear-ended by Kennedy’s SUV. The SUV had disabling damage to the front end and was towed. Martin’s car had minor damage. There were no injuries.

Theft: On Dec. 11 at about 12 p.m., a Tremont woman reported to state police that there were fraudulent charges from her “Cash App” account for a total of more than $300. The investigation is ongoing.

Crash: State police responded to a one-vehicle accident on Dec. 10 at about 10:50 a.m. Summer Donton, 38, Minersville, struck a utility pole. There were no injuries. Her vehicle was towed.

Crash: On Dec. 7 at about 7:45 a.m., state police responded to an accident on Route 209 near Interstate 81. Anthony Smith, 41, Valley View, was traveling too fast for conditions and ran into the back of a pickup truck driven by Kara Smith, 27, Reading. Smith’s truck drifted into the path of a tractor-trailer driven by John Strough, 58, Dallastown, and the vehicles collided.  There were no injuries. The two trucks were towed.

Crash: On Dec. 7 at about 8:15 a.m., state police responded to an accident on Route 125 in Porter Township. Obedience Rocca, 27, Gratz, lost control of his vehicle due to snow on the road and struck a utility pole. He was transported to Lehigh Valley East by Tremont Area ambulance. His Hyundai was towed.

DUI on View Drugs: On Dec. 7 at about 10:31 p.m., state police were called to Blue Mountain Heights in Wayne Township. Natalie White, 59, Pine Grove, drove to a stranger’s residence and began to cause a disturbance. White was found to be under the influence of a drug and was in possession of methamphetamine. Police continue the investigation.

Crash: On Dec. 6 at about 5:15 p.m., state police responded to an accident on Second Street in Auburn in which a vehicle struck a legally parked car. The driver continued traveling south and failed to stop and report the accident.

Drug Possession: On Dec. 2 at about 11 a.m., state police were dispatched to check on a man asleep inside his truck at the Exxon gas station in North Manheim Township. When troopers arrived, suspected drugs were found. Joseph Generella, 44, Pottsville, was taken into custody.

Crash: State police responded to an accident on Route 61 in West Brunswick Township on Nov. 26 at about 9:30 p.m. Tyler Vandermartin, 26, Pottsville, was speeding and struck an SUV driven by Paige Kondrack, 29, Medford Lakes, N.J. Both drivers were transported to Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital for their injuries. Vandermartin was cited for speeding.

Hit and Run: On Nov. 24 at about 7:30 p.m. state police responded to a hit and run accident on Route 183 in Wayne Township. Daniel Laidacker, 20, Bloomsburg, was driving in the right lane. An unidentified driver attempted to pass, scraped the bumper of Laidacker’s car and did not stop.
