South Schuylkill News Police Reports, Nov. 2, 2023

The following information is taken from police reports and court records.

Crash: On Oct. 24 at about 7 p.m., state police responded to an accident in which a school bus was rear-ended by a car on Route 61 at Drehersville Road in West Brunswick Township.  There were no injuries. The car was towed.

Crash: On Oct. 22 at about 9:20 p.m., state police responded to an accident on Oak Grove Road near Long Stretch Road in Pine Grove Township. Jarred Hewes, 20, Pine Grove, rear-ended an SUV. A passenger in Moyer’s vehicle was transported to Hershey Medical Center for minor injuries. Moyer was not injured.

Missing Person: State police are investigating a report of a missing person. On Oct. 22 at about 6:20 p.m., it was reported that Thomas John Ferhat was last seen in the 100 block of Water Street in Cumbola on Oct. 19 at about 2 p.m.. Ferhat is described as a white, man with black and gray wavy hair. He is 6 feet tall and weighs about 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue and white flannel shirt, blue jeans and brown boots. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Frackville station at 570-874-5300.

Theft: On Oct. 22 at about 1:45 p.m., state police were dispatched to Walmart, Plaza Drive in Rush Township for a reported retail theft. Police arrested Kylie Usalis, 27, Lansford, on charges of failing to pay for items worth more than $40.

Burglary: State police are investigating a burglary at the Baymont Inn on Suedberg Road in Pine Grove Township on Oct. 21 between 1 and 2 p.m. Items valued over $1,600 were taken.

Crash: State police responded to an accident in Wayne Township on Oct. 20 at about 6 a.m. Timothy Refi, 48, Pottsville, struck a deer on Long Run Road near Fisher Road, causing disabling damage to his SUV. Refi was not injured. The vehicle was towed.

Impersonate Public Servant: State police are investigating a report of a person impersonating a public servant. The incident took place Oct. 18 at about 10:30 p.m. on South Route 183 in Wayne Township. The complainant told police that someone in an unmarked maroon SUV stopped her vehicle and requested consent to search it. The suspected person was described as a white male wearing all black.

Theft: On Oct. 9 at about 8:15 a.m. a New Philadelphia woman reported to state police at Schuylkill Haven that someone stole $180 from her. Police continue to investigate.

Terroristic Threats: On Oct. 7 at about 6:45 p.m. state police responded to Route 61 Hwy. South and Seven Stars Road in North Manheim Township for a report of assault. Police determined the driver of an unidentified black pickup traveling south on Route 61 S. near the adult shop pointed a gun at another motorist. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Trooper Brands at PSP–Schuylkill Haven 570-754-4600 and reference PA2023-1316016.

Crash: State police responded to an accident at the intersection of Route 25 at South Good Spring Road at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 27. Two tractor-trailers collided. Beau-Bailey, 33, Norristown, was driving north when his trucks brakes failed, and it was unable to stop at the intersection. Robert Bloom, 66, Union Bridge, tried unsuccessfully to avoid hitting Bloom’s truck. Both trucks had disabling damage. A driver exchange report was given to both drivers.

Burglary: State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a reported burglary on Reedsville Road in Wayne Township on Sept. 27 at about 12:30 a.m.

Crash: On Sept. 24 at about 6:30 p.m., state police responded to an accident on Waterfall Road at Pleasant Valley Road in Pine Grove Township. Levi Bettinger, 18, Pine Grove, lost control of his vehicle and struck an embankment. Bettinger was not injured. A passenger had a possible injury.
