Sports – Fleetwood, Kutztown Sports Hall of Fame inductees honored

Mike Clark (class of 1968), Walter Snyder (class of 1973), Leah Tassone Angstadt (class of 2007), Mary Stambaugh (Schock) (class of 1999), Emily Arndt (class of 2008) and Kevin Remley (class of 1980) were recently inducted into the Fleetwood Area School District 2022 honored Sports Hall of Fame.

Brad Sechler, a 1998 alumnus of Kutztown High School, and Robert Rarick, a 1980 alumnus of Kutztown High School, were recently inducted into the Kutztown Area High School Athletic Hall of Fame. They were honored at the Kutztown Area High School Hall of Fame banquet.

A two-sport athlete, Sechler played basketball and baseball.

He was a three-year starter in basketball. He was twice named to the All County team in 1997 and 1998. He had 1,144 career points with more than 700 career rebounds in 70 career games. Sechler went on to play basketball at Wilkes University where he holds the school record for highest career three-point percentage.

Sechler was also a three-year starter in baseball. He was named to the All-County team in 1998 and the team was named Berks County Champions the same year. He was a Berks County Carpenter Cup Selection in 1998 and had 8 wins and 99 strike-outs that season.

Rarick was a three-sport athlete. He lettered in track, football and wrestling. Rarick excelled in wrestling and was a two-time AA sectional champ and two-time District III AA champ. He was also the 1980 Regional champ and a two-time state qualifier. Rarick placed third in the PIAA-AA state tournament in 1980 and his career record was 66-9-1. He was selected to the Berks County All-Decade first team and the Berks County All Century third team.

The KAHS 2002 Softball team was honored at the Kutztown Area High School Hall of Fame banquet. The team won the Berks County, District III, and PA State AA Championships in 2002. They had a record of 26 wins and 4 losses.
