St. Luke’s awarded grant to build medical office in central Berks

State Rep. Barry J. Jozwiak, a Bern Township Republican, announced Friday that St. Luke’s Health Network was awarded a $1 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant for the construction of a  medical office building in Leesport.

“This medical office building project will provide 43 new jobs and access to needed care for Berks County residents,” Jozwiak said in the press release.

The office building will be built on the vacant lot at the intersection of the Pottsville Pike and Cherry Street in Leesport.

Medical services available at the site will include urgent care, lab services, X-ray imaging, mammography, occupational medicine, primary and preventative medicine, physical therapy, orthopedics, pediatrics and other specialty services, according to Jozwiak’s office.

Jozwiak’s office did not provide a timetable for the project, and there was no information available from St. Luke’s.
